ADDRESS MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
PER/DPV
PER/DPV is a new, optional, companion product for PER/ZIP4. Although PER/ZIP4 is CASS certified and meets all USPS regulations, the USPS recognizes that there can be further improvement in delivery accuracy by taking address validation one step further. Federal law prevents the USPS from publishing individual addresses, and that is why PER/ZIP4 and other CASS products contain only address range records rather than individual addresses.
The USPS has developed DPV™ (Delivery Point Validation) technology to allow software vendors to incorporate very securely encrypted tables of delivery points and other delivery information into CASS software.
PER/DPV will use this new technology to provide this increased delivery accuracy to PER/ZIP4 users.
PER/DPV will determine if an address is an actual delivery point where mail is delivered. Currently CASS processing tells you that any address between 500 and 599 Cobblestone Court is valid. PER/DPV will tell you that mail can be delivered to 501 but not to 510.
Installation and use of PER/DPV is optional. However, as of January 2007, a PER/DPV update is included with every PER/ZIP4 update.
- A subscription to PER/ZIP4 is a prerequisite to obtaining a subscription to PER/DPV.
- PER/DPV is included with PER/ZIP4 at no additional cost.
- PER/DPV delivery point verification is provided as part of the PER/ZIP4 interface. Batch processing and API's are provided.
- PER/DPV will require and additional 800 megs of storage. It is shipped on a single CD-ROM and is installed in a similar manner to PER/ZIP4.
- PER/DPV provides a Y/N response as to whether the address is determined to be a location where mail is actually delivered. Additional information is provided to identify CMRA's (Commercial Mail Receiving Agencies) and also footnotes are provided (address is good, but secondary unit information is missing or invalid) to indicate the quality of the match.
