PER/RDI is an optional add-on module for PER/ZIP4. PER/RDI utilizes USPS® Residential Delivery Indicator (RDI™) data to allow PER/ZIP4 to return a residential delivery indicator while processing your addresses.
The residential delivery indicator is a one character field indicating whether or not a valid address is a residence. The value returned will be one of the following:
- N = address is not a residence (it is a business)
- Y = address is a residence
The PER/RDI module also allows PER/ZIP4 to return a one character Business/Residential Indicator indicating whether a valid address is a business or residence. The value derived for this field is more reliable than the Residential Delivery Indicator described above and is used in producing walk sequence carrier route presort mailings. The value returned will be one of the following:
- Blank = Business/Residential status could not be reliably determined
- B = Business
- R = Residence
PER/RDI is not new. However, due to recent USPS changes, PER/RDI is now easier than ever to license, install, and maintain. Effective January 27th 2013, the U. S. Postal Service changed its licensing requirements for the Residential Delivery Indicator (RDI) database. As a result, the RDI database can now be licensed and distributed by Certified RDI Software providers.
Beginning with the March 2013 PER/ZIP4 update, the latest RDI database will be distributed with every PER/ZIP4 update. It will no longer be necessary for users to license the RDI database directly from the U.S. Postal Service.
The cost for PER/RDI is $220 per year for unlimited use on a single iSeries (AS/400). There are no other costs. PER/RDI is only available as an add-on module for PER/ZIP4. PER/RDI will not function without PER/ZIP4.
We offer a 30-day, no-hassle, free trial of PER/RDI so you can see and analyze the results produced using your own data on your own system.
